As the year draws to a close, The Salvation Army ends its most critical fundraising season. End-of-year giving is more than just a tradition, it is a lifeline that enables us to meet the most basic needs of struggling individuals, families and communities.

A significant portion of The Salvation Army’s annual donations arrive between Thanksgiving and the last week in December. It is through the generosity of donors that we operate vital year-round services and programs across the country in support of our mission.

Every donation is important whether large or small. They ensure:

·       Annual budget goals are met and used to close funding gaps, often caused by unexpected crises or events

·       Essential services like food, shelter and utility assistance, programs for addiction recovery, job training, and youth development continue without interruption

·       Strategic planning for the coming year, ensuring stability and continuity for each location

·       Responding to urgent needs, including emergencies or seasonal demand increases

Without strong end-of-year support, The Salvation Army would have to scale back and potentially turn away people seeking help. Private dollars create sustained support and offer an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while also gaining personal and financial benefits.

It Pays to Give: Donor Advantages

Giving at the end of the year benefits donors as well as The Salvation Army. In addition to the emotional reward of helping others, individuals and businesses experience:

·       Tax benefits: Donations made before December 31 may be tax-deductible, reducing taxable income (depending on local laws and individual circumstances).

·       A sense of purpose: Giving allows donors to reflect on the year and align their money with their values.

·       Immediate impact: End-of-year donations often go directly toward urgent needs or campaign goals.

·       Stronger community connection: Relationships are built and strengthened where donors live and work.

Making donations at this time of year can be a wonderful way to demonstrate intention and generosity. But it’s not just about numbers—it’s about people. Each contribution plays a role in creating positive change while investing in hope, compassion and a better future for everyone. Please donate today at salarmy.us/end-of-year.
