The Salvation Army’s Girls' Empowerment Seminar, held from February 23 to 26, 2026, at the Red Shield Guest House in Kolkata, was a remarkable event that resonated with hope and inspiration. Centered around the powerful theme, “But be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded” (2 Chronicles 15:7), this seminar aimed to equip women leaders from across India to empower young girls through faith-based initiatives.
With participation from 23 dedicated women leaders, including Territorial Junior Home League Secretaries, Divisional Secretaries for Women's Ministries, and Corps Officers, the seminar fostered a spirit of collaboration and empowerment across all six Indian Territories. The gathering kicked off with a warm Welcome Meal where delegates shared joy and fellowship, setting a positive tone for the days ahead.
Colonel Sunita A. Christian led the inaugural session, highlighting the importance of gratitude and community. The ceremony featured a symbolic candle lighting, orchestrated by Commissioner Mani Kumari Dasari and other leaders, in honour of the Holy Trinity. The keynote address delivered by Commissioner John Kumar Dasari encouraged attendees to embrace their role as beacons of light, drawing inspiration from Matthew 5:14.
“This seminar renewed our commitment to empower girls with courage, faith, and confidence.”
Throughout the seminar, participants engaged in dynamic sessions designed to empower them in their vital roles. Morning and evening worship sessions filled the air with uplifting songs, and devotions led by esteemed leaders focused on nurturing young girls in God's mission. Topics covered included leadership, health awareness, confidence-building, social media safety, and the role of music ministry in reaching youth, facilitated by experienced speakers such as Colonel (Dr.). Andrews D. Christian, Major Anugrah Masih, and Captain Christopher Macwan.

Participants were encouraged to create innovative products using available resources, reflecting their commitment to engaging young girls in meaningful ways. Additionally, sharing sessions allowed delegates to discuss their accomplishments and future plans for girls' ministries, fostering a spirit of collaboration and innovation.
