Galaxy Quest Youth Conference

Each year during Commissioning Weekend, children ages 5–12 gather for a special time of learning, fun, and discipleship at the concurrent Youth Conference. This year, that adventure took place June 5–7, at the Territorial Headquarters Conference Center, where nearly 100 young people met for a time that was out of this world!

Using the territorial VBS theme “Galaxy Quest” as our guide, we launched into an exciting journey through God’s Word as we discovered His truth among the stars. Throughout the weekend, kids explored the big story of God’s love: how God created everything, how His promises remain constant, how He is always with us, and how He sent Jesus to be our Savior.

The weekend was packed with hands-on fun and unforgettable experiences. Kids enjoyed games, space-themed crafts and snacks, and dove into Bible lessons that helped them see God’s hand at work in every part of creation. Delegates were also encouraged to reflect on how they saw God at work throughout the weekend, creating a visible constellation of God Sightings. On Saturday night, the adventure continued with a special visit from the Big Thinkers Science Program, presenting an exciting science show that amazed every person in the room, both young and old.

As our mission wrapped up following the special Sunday morning Junior Commissioning service, kids were sent back to their families and communities equipped and inspired to shine the light of Jesus wherever they go. Each delegate was individually prayed over and encouraged, “May you know Jesus’ love and share it with others.” We continue to pray that this truth will take hold in each heart and be lived out all over the territory long after Youth Conference is over.

As delegates departed, each received a Galaxy Quest keychain as a meaningful reminder of the weekend and the daily Bible points shared throughout the conference. In the days following the event, the Territorial Youth Department also mailed postcards to every delegate as an additional encouragement, reminding kids that they are deeply loved, continually prayed for, and supported even after they have returned home.

Young Salvationists of the Southern Territory left encouraged by the powerful reminder that the same God who created the stars and galaxies is personally involved in every part of their lives. Through worship, teaching, fellowship, and unforgettable moments together, the Galaxy Quest Youth Conference pointed attendees toward the hope and faithfulness of God — a truth they can carry with them the rest of their lives.
