Fort Wayne Provides School Supplies to Over 1,000 Kids
For the 23rd year in a row The Salvation Army of Fort Wayne is providing back-to-school supplies to children in need in Allen County through their Tools for School campaign. Thanks to generous donors and partnerships with United Way Allen County and Cummins, free backpacks and school supplies will be distributed to over 1,000 students.
Tools for School is supporting students from kindergarten to 12th grade to help ensure they can enter a new school year with not only all of the supplies they need, but also the confidence they need to succeed this school year.
Dena Smith, Corps Officer at The Salvation Army Fort Wayne
“For 23 years, this program has helped struggling families with students going back to school by providing basic school supplies to those who need it most. We are grateful for the generosity of the individuals and organizations who made this a reality.”
Thanks to the support of private and public collection sites such as Walmart across the community, this has been a successful year collecting hundreds of donations. Preregistered families will receive all the supplies they need on August 5th. In addition to the distribution, several local agencies will be on site to offer services and resources to the families such as, Allen County Public Library, Brightpoint, Fort Wayne Zoo, Iris Family Support Center, Healthier Moms and Babies, and so many more.
The Salvation Army of Fort Wayne is honored to serve local families in this way.
