Elkhart Community Schools Is Holding A District Wide Food Drive In November For The Elkhart Salvation Army

Students and employees of Elkhart Community Schools will be collecting food for the Elkhart Salvation Army’s food pantry during the month of November. This collaboration has a goal of helping battle food scarcity among school district residents and Elkhart-area citizens. Collection boxes, donated by Welch Packaging, will be set up in all elementary, middle, and high school buildings. In addition, food collection boxes will also be placed at the Career Center, Hawthorne Learning Center, and the Administration building. Non-perishable food items will be accepted. Parents and residents within the school district are also invited to drop off food donations at any of the school buildings. The food drive commences on November 3 and ends on November 24.
All donations will be provided to the Elkhart Salvation Army’s food pantry which assists local families and individuals experiencing food scarcity. Any type of nonperishable food is welcome, but especially needed are the following: Cereal, Oatmeal, Pancake Mix & Syrup, Canned Fruits, Vegetables and soups, Jelly/Jam, Peanut Butter, Canned Beans, Canned Meats, Tuna, Spaghetti Sauce, Dry Spaghetti, Pasta, Noodles, Macaroni & Cheese, Dry Beans, Rice, Instant potatoes, Ramen Noodles, and Saltine Crackers.
