With just days left in The Salvation Army's annual Red Kettle Campaign, shoppers in Porter County will have twice the reasons to give. The Salvation Army of Porter County is excited to share that a local couple is providing up to $20,000 in matching dollars for all donations given to Porter County Red Kettles from Friday, December 19 through Christmas Eve, the final day of the campaign.

POR Anon 20k PR pic.png"A heartfelt thank you to an anonymous donor who has stepped forward with a powerful $20,000 matching gift for the final five days of our Red Kettle Campaign," said Captain Jim Prichard, pastor and corps administrator for The Salvation Army. "Every coin and bill given during those closing days will instantly be doubled—turning $20,000 in community generosity into $40,000 of real help for our neighbors. That means double the groceries in our food pantry, double the joy for children on Christmas morning through Angel Tree, double the families kept safe with heat and housing assistance, and an increase in the number of kids who can experience the life-changing fun and growth of our Summer Day Camp program, archery, and piano classes throughout the year. One generous heart has just made every bell ring twice as loud with hope! A true neighbor helping neighbors."

In 2025, The Salvation Army of Porter County was able to respond to the increased need they've seen across the county. High inflation, job loss, and underemployment continue to stretch household budgets and increase the demand for social services assistance programs. The Salvation Army is able to provide some relief and support when local households feel stretched to their limit, but this is only possible through the support of the entire Porter County community.

Volunteer bell ringers are needed to sign up for 2-hour shifts to ensure that every Red Kettle can be out each day of the match. Individuals, groups, and families are encouraged to visit RegisterToRing.com to sign up for the date, time, and location of their choosing. Red Kettles have been placed at a number of locations this year, including Walmart, Strack and Van Til, Emagine Theatres, Bass Pro Shop, Hobby Lobby, Jewel, JCPenney, Walgreens, and Town and Country.

All funds donated to The Salvation of Porter County will stay local to help out residents in need throughout 2026. To learn more about The Salvation Army's mission and ministries, visit SAPorterCounty.org.
