The Salvation Army of Vigo County has just two weeks left in its annual Red Kettle Campaign, but unseasonably cold and snowy weather has put the organization behind in donations. As of Monday, $65,000 had been collected in Red Kettles since the beginning of November. With a goal of raising $140,000 by Christmas Eve, The Salvation Army is asking the public to help them raise the funds necessary for Vigo County programs and services to continue in the coming year.

TER Bell Ringer 1.png"The Red Kettles are more than just a symbol of the holidays," said Major Tim Parker with The Salvation Army of Vigo County. "The donations made to kettles fund every program we offer, including our food pantry, rent and utility assistance, and year-round ministries addressing the greatest needs of our most vulnerable citizens. When you hear a bell ringing, that's the sound of hope for families right here in Vigo County."

Volunteer bell ringing shifts are available on RegisterToRing.com for individuals, families, groups, and organizations looking to give back this holiday season. The Salvation Army depends on hundreds of volunteers to step up each Christmas to man Red Kettles across Vigo County.
