Divisional Director of Emergency Disaster Services Selected to Serve Hamilton County Board
Matt Grusznis, Director of Emergency Disaster Services for The Salvation Army in SWONEKY, has been selected to serve as Chair of the Hamilton County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD), a collaborative network of nonprofit, faith-based, and community partners working together before, during, and after emergencies.
The COAD Chair serves a two-year term and plays a key leadership role in coordinating disaster preparedness and response efforts across the county. During non-disaster periods, the Chair leads COAD meetings and helps strengthen partnerships, planning efforts, and community readiness. During large-scale disasters, the Chair may serve as an alternate point of contact for COAD members and support county operations—particularly if the Hamilton County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is activated—by assisting with logistics and volunteer coordination.
This role closely aligns with Matt’s ongoing focus on community preparedness, volunteer engagement, and disaster response planning through The Salvation Army. It also reinforces The Salvation Army’s long-standing role as a trusted partner and reliable presence during disasters, working side-by-side with local governments and community organizations to meet urgent human needs.
The Salvation Army is often among the first organizations to respond when disaster strikes and remains long after to support recovery. Leadership roles like this help ensure strong coordination, effective use of volunteers and resources, and compassionate service to individuals and families when they need it most.
