Composer and director Fabio DAndrea released a powerful new music video starring TV adventurer Bear Grylls in support of The Salvation Army and to highlight the hidden homeless’ crisis.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (October 10, 2025) — World-renowned adventurer Bear Grylls stars in Pace, a new music video by acclaimed composer and pianist Fabio D’Andrea, created to raise awareness in partnership with The Salvation Army about the growing crisis of hidden homelessness on World Homelessness Day 2025.

“Countless people experiencing homelessness remain unseen,” said D’Andrea.

The video shines a light on the struggles of those experiencing housing instability, and who aren’t always thought of when the public imagines homelessness. More than 770,000 people experience homelessness in the U.S., according to official counts. Even more aren’t captured in those figures.

“A veteran living in a motel, or a teenager who seems all together but is secretly living out of a school bag,” said D’Andrea. “The surge in numbers is creating a generation facing unprecedented hardship. My video shines a light on this invisible crisis, and I want anyone struggling to know there is both help and hope. We’re asking people to share it widely as some watching may see their own reality reflected and not know that support is out there, within reach.”

The video was released in partnership with The Salvation Army. The organization has more than tripled the number of people it’s connected with permanent housing over the past five years as need has grown. As one of the nation’s largest providers of shelter and housing support the organization delivered more than 10 million nights of shelter last year through over 600 shelters nationwide. The collaboration reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to addressing both visible and invisible forms of homelessness.

The emotionally-charged music video, titled ‘Pace’, the Italian word for “peace,” features international opera singer Freddie De Tommaso and is part of D’Andrea’s visual piano album 24. The video blends classical music with narrative storytelling around this urgent social issue. Pace adapts the timeless Prayer of Peace by St. Francis of Assisi. Sung in Italian by De Tommaso, the performance adds depth to D’Andrea’s piano composition.

“Music can do more than move us emotionally — it can inspire action,” said D’Andrea. “With Pace, I wanted to highlight the struggles of those living in the shadows of society, including families, veterans, and children. Their challenges are often unseen, but no less real.”

The rate at which Americans experience homelessness has risen to record levels since the COVID-19 pandemic, growing 30% from 2022-2024, according to a Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis study. Those estimates may not fully capture the hidden homeless who go from one unstable housing situation to the next including relying on motel rooms or vehicles for shelter.

In the video, Grylls portrays a modern-day good Samaritan offering compassion to those in need. Known for his courage in extreme environments, Grylls said his participation reflects the importance of care and empathy for those without stable housing.

“Helping others is a sign of ultimate strength. We can all do more, we all fail often, but showing compassion to those in need is one of the most beautiful things we can do as human beings,” said Grylls. “We can’t ignore the struggles of those around us. That’s the spirit of a good Samaritan — someone who refuses to look away. That’s why I wanted to be a part of this project and help draw attention to the invisible crisis of hidden homelessness.”

“The work Fabio, Bear and Freddie are doing is more than a powerful visual, it’s a call to action,” said Commissioner Merle Heatwole, National Commander of The Salvation Army. “By bringing attention to hidden homelessness, this video will help inspire more support for millions of people in need. We are grateful to Fabio and Bear for highlighting this issue in such a meaningful way.”

Those who want to assist their neighbors in need can find their nearest local Salvation Army online and explore volunteer opportunities or donate to ongoing efforts to shelter the unhoused.
