Back-to-School Bash: The Salvation Army, FNB Partner Up for Pittsburgh Students
PITTSBURGH (August 4, 2026) – The local Salvation Army location in Homewood is once again teaming up with First National Bank (FNB) to host a back-to-school bash for local students in Pittsburgh, Penn Hills and Wilkinsburg School Districts. The bash will kick off at Noon and run until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at The Salvation Army’s Pittsburgh Homewood-Brushton Worship and Service Center, located at 8020 Frankstown Avenue. During the event, presented by First National Bank (FNB), the largest subsidiary of F.N.B. Corporation, hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies will be distributed to local families.
“Preparing students with the resources they need to thrive in school and in life is incredibly important,” Charmaine Alston Romano, Envoy-in-Charge of The Salvation Army in Homewood, said. “We are grateful for FNB for making this back-to-school bash possible. Thank you for empowering our youth to start the school year off strong.”
Assistance is open to all students entering grades K-12 residing in ZIP code areas 15147, 15201, 15203, 15206, 15208, 15213, 15215, 15219, 15221, 15222, 15223, 15224, 15230, 15231, 15232, 15235, 15240 and 15260. Registration is required in advance by calling 412-242-1434 or by clicking here to fill out the online form. The deadline to register is Friday, July 31 and students must be present on the day of the event. Barbers will be on hand to give students fresh haircuts for the new school year, and families can receive school uniform assistance while supplies last. To make it a true celebration, there will be plenty of food, refreshments and fun family activities! The Salvation Army team will also be on site to help families register early for upcoming holiday and Christmas assistance.
