A New Beginning for a Mother and Her Children

When a mother first connected with The Salvation Army of Jamestown’s Anew Center, she had lost custody of her children and was facing a long road toward rebuilding her family.

Working closely with an Anew Center case manager, she completed court-mandated domestic violence education classes and began taking the steps necessary to create a more stable future. She found an apartment, secured employment and obtained a vehicle. Over time, she also began visiting her two daughters.

Each accomplishment brought her closer to the goal she had been working toward.

Recently, that perseverance paid off: she regained custody of her children.

Now, rather than ending her relationship with The Salvation Army, the family is beginning a new chapter. She and her children are preparing to work with the Children & Family Outreach Program, which helps families affected by domestic violence and abuse strengthen relationships, improve communication and build healthy, safe futures.

What began during one of the most difficult periods of this mother's life has become a story of stability, perseverance and a family reunited.
