How We Partner with Older Adults
We ensure the older adults in our community are nourished both physically and emotionally with nutritious food, engaging activities and enjoyable social opportunities. We offer care and compassion as well as practical assistance that improves their quality of life.
For more information about our programs for older adults, call 605-332-2331 ext. 312.
Senior Food Commodity Box Program
We partner with the State of South Dakota and Feeding South Dakota to provide more than 400 food boxes on the second Thursday of each month to low-income seniors who are struggling to obtain adequate nutritious food. Seniors either pick up the monthly food box at 800 N. Cliff Ave. or we deliver the box directly to their door if they are homebound.
Senior Neighbor Luncheon
On the first Wednesday of every month we offer the opportunity for seniors to share a nutritious meal and enjoy fellowship and fun with one another as well as games, activities and music. We provide a selection of delicious entrees and beverages, and participants sign up in advance to bring a dessert or side dish. The Senior Neighbor Luncheon takes place on the second Thursday of each month.
Community Cares Program
Our officers and volunteers visit hundreds of seniors in assisted living facilities and nursing homes at Easter and Christmas and upon special request to offer friendship, encouragement, prayer and compassion. Volunteer opportunities are also available through this program.
