Our Purpose and Mission
The Salvation Army Evangeline Booth Miracle Home is an emergency homeless shelter for women. Serving women in the Capital Region without discrimination, the home is a full-service 18-bed shelter located in downtown Schenectady, close to services and on the bus lines. Rooms and meals are provided on a temporary basis until those who are experiencing homelessness due to financial and personal challenges can get back into a more permanent and secure housing situation.
The Evangeline Booth Miracle Home Strives To:
- Treat homeless women with dignity and respect while providing a safe home, filled with love, support, and faith
- Encourage the women to make positive life decisions and encourage them to acknowledge and value their self-worth
- Work to stop the cycle of poverty, abuse, and addiction
- Follow and be guided by the mission statement of The Salvation Army: To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination
