WELCOME TO ADOPT A FAMILY 2025

Thank you for taking part in this longstanding Omaha tradition by being an Adopt A Family sponsor!

This fall, 500 metro-area families in need are waiting to be adopted (sponsored) for Christmas.  So, The Salvation Army, First Alert 6, and Boomer Radio are asking you to help us “deliver Christmas” to all of them!

Before you move forward with adopting a family, please carefully read through the instructions below.  (Yes, part of those instructions will seem redundant – for example, you’re already here at the adoptafamilyomaha.org website – but they’re important; please read all the way through them anyway.)  When you’re done with that, just click on the Adopt A Family Now link at the bottom of this page.

Clicking on that link will take you to a new page, where you’ll 1) be provided with guidelines for being a sponsor (please read through them!) and 2) you’ll move forward with signing up to adopt one family – or as many families as you like.

Simple as that!  Please read on below – and thanks again for your support.

INSTRUCTIONS

Being a part of Adopt A Family is easy – all it takes is four simple steps:

  1. Starting on Monday, October 13, just go to adoptafamilyomaha.orgCarefully read through the instructions, then select the number and size of families you would like to adopt.
  2. You’ll be matched with a family (or multiple families) based on your selection. You will then receive their Christmas wish list(s) via email by November 21. You’ll have a few weeks to shop for:
    • Gifts for each listed family member
    • One $40 grocery store gift card per family – to help them afford a holiday meal (NEW THIS YEAR: you will also be asked to provide information on the gift card you’ll be giving to them; we appreciate your help with this)
  3. Purchase the gifts for your adopted family (or families).
    • NEW THIS YEAR: Please do not wrap the gifts, but please do include wrapping paper along with the gifts you buy (the idea is to allow parents/guardians a chance to see what their children are receiving ahead of time and to allow them the chance to wrap the gifts themselves).
  4. Bag all the gifts (and the wrapping paper) together – one bag per adopted family, please...and please clearly label each bag – and deliver everything to The Salvation Army’s 2525 Dodge St. location during any one of the following dates and times:
    • December 4th and 5th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • December 8th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • December 9th and 10th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All gifts must be delivered by December 10th to ensure that the adopted families receive their gifts in time for Christmas. The Salvation Army will notify your adopted family (or families) once the gifts are ready for pick-up.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about the program, please send an email to wst.aaf@usc.salvationarmy.org.
