After-School Program

Across America, 1 out of 5 kids is alone and unsupervised from 3 to 6 p.m. Our after-school programs keep youth engaged by providing a safe place to socialize and gain help with homework and reading. At the same time, parents can rest easy at work, knowing their children are safe and well cared for after school is dismissed.

Junior Soldiers and Corps Cadets
The aim of the Junior Soldier program is to ensure that children involved in The Salvation Army have personally received Jesus Christ as their Savior and are discipled in biblical truths, life applications, and Salvation Army principles and practices. Junior Soldiers are the youngest members of The Salvation Army.

Pre-teen and teens who are enrolled as Junior Soldiers are also invited to participate in Corps Cadets, a training program and discipleship course focusing on spiritual growth, leadership development, growing their knowledge of Salvation Army history and evangelism training.

Summer Overnight Camps
Kids and teens in first through 12th grade are offered the opportunity to enroll in overnight camps each summer at Western Plains Camp near South Sioux City, Nebraska. Themed weeks like Music Camp, Teen Camp and Outdoor Camp as well as daily camp activities allow kids to experience nature, connect with others, and learn social and leadership skills.

Access to Opportunities Can Make All the Difference

Access to Opportunities Can Make All the Difference

Hundreds of kids in Norfolk are living in poverty, which means they often don't have access to the same educational and social opportunities of their peers.

Our goal is to close the gap for low-income students by offering enriching experiences they might not otherwise get. That's why we offer character building classes and arts and music programs that connect kids with positive adult role models and provide them with enriching experiences and spiritual development.

Help build a safe space for a kid to grow, learn, and build lifelong skills.
