Utility Rent Assistance
Emergency Financial Assistance
- Financial Assistance is open to Chatham County residents ONLY.
- Applicants may receive assistance ONCE EVERY TWO YEARS.
- Please specify Rent/Utility
- Please provide a valid photo ID and a copy of a past-due bill or late rental notice.
- To qualify for assistance:
- The bill or lease MUST match the name of the applicant.
- Applicants must meet Health and Human Services Current Income Guidelines (to be completed at intake interview)
- Rental Assistance applications must have an eviction letter or late notice from the landlord or court.
- Provide a copy of the current lease agreement and a copy of the current lease"ledger" stating payment history.
- Due to sustainability and funding restrictions, you may be required to show proof of income to receive assistance.
- Applicants are required to provide a valid photo ID. Accepted forms of ID are Driver's License, State ID, Prison ID, Student ID, Work ID, Passport, or any government-issued ID with a picture on it. Birth certificates for children in the household.
- You must be in a crisis to receive emergency assistance funds, meaning you are behind in a utility or rental bill, resulting in imminent disconnection or eviction.
All items must be present at the time of the appointment.
