Joshua's Challenge
The Joshua’s Challenge Literacy Program is a proven approach that allows more students to read on grade level by the end of third grade. Our approach is based on a method that has seen great success at the Sheep-Harney Elementary School in Elizabeth City. It is also now being used at schools in at least six counties in North Carolina.
The Salvation Army, which is based in Rocky Mount and serves Nash, Edgecombe, and Wilson counties, has launched its own adapted version of this program to help bring up reading scores for selected third-grade readers at participating schools.
