Our Services

Our teen programs provide a safe and supportive environment where youth can grow, learn, and thrive while building strong futures. Through Sports, Character Development, and Leadership programs, teens gain confidence, teamwork skills, responsibility, positive decision-making abilities, and life skills.

We also offer Music & Arts, STEM, and Education programs that inspire creativity, academic growth, and career exploration. Our Health & Wellness activities encourage healthy lifestyles and emotional well-being and personal growth, helping teens develop the tools they need to succeed both now and in the future.

Kamaree grew up in the Youth Center, and when asked how it helped him, he said, “The Youth Center literally saved my life

“Your donation today is an investment in the future of our community. Every contribution helps provide teens with safe spaces, positive mentorship, educational opportunities, and programs that build confidence, leadership, and hope. Together, we are building strong futures and creating lasting change for the next generation.”

How You Can Help:

By working together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of young people in our community.

  • Sponsor an Event - A gift of $300-$500 helps provide meaningful teen activities and engagement opportunities.

  • Sponsor A Teen - For $600, you can sponsor one teen’s participation for the entire school year.

  • Sponsor A Month - A contribution of $4,000 helps sustain the teen program for 1 month, covering operational expenses, staffing, activities, and program support.

  • Sponsor the Teen Director - An opportunity for your business or church to make a huge impact on the future of our community! An annual investment of $30,000 helps fund the salary and benefits for the Teen Director who leads, mentors, and guides our youth.

Education is a foundation block at the BCYC. We understand that if our members are successful in school, they will also be successful in life. Each day we have our Learning Academy for an hour. During this time they work on homework and education worksheets. We also partner with NC State, IXL and the Durham Police Department for tutoring.

In our STEAM lab, our members have the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in fun and exciting ways.

In our Life+ program, our goal is to equip our members with the skills needed for every day life. This includes how to manage your home, workforce development, and life skills. What they learn in school is important, but there is so much more they need to learn to be successful citizens, and that is what we teach in Life+.

OutdoorX is an Extreme Exposure Experience where our members experience nature in fun and exciting ways. As a part of OutdoorX, we are partnering with NC Wildlife to create a bee pollination area. Our members are also given the opportunity to go to Camp Walter Johnson for a week of overnight camp, where they learn about nature and outdoor activities.

Money Counts is a practical class that teaches our members how to manage their personal finances. In this class, they learn how to open checking accounts, create personal budgets, and so much more.

Health and fitness impact every area of our lives. It is important that we teach our members at a young age how to properly care for themselves. In our Wellness Works, we teach healthy cooking, exercise, and personal health care.

C.A.M.P. is our Center 4 Arts & Music Performance. This new program will start in 2025, and we hope to see it grow over the next few years. Our members will be able to sign up for brass, piano, guitar, handbells, art, and choir classes. The arts are known to impact the academic achievement, social well-being, and critical thinking skills of young people.

SAVE Sports stands for Sports Against Violence Everywhere. Many of the young people who walk through our doors have been touched personally by violence in their homes, families, and neighborhoods. We teach our athletes that the skills they use on the field or court can be used in their daily lives. Discipline, anger management, dedication, and teamwork are skills needed in all areas of our lives.
