The Salvation Army to Break Ground on New Harbor House: “Lives Transformed”
Springfield, MO - The Salvation Army of Springfield is proud to announce the groundbreaking of its new Harbor House, a vital step forward in transforming lives and strengthening hope in our community. The public is invited to join the Lives Transformed Groundbreaking Ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 1707 W. Chestnut Expressway.
For 135 years, The Salvation Army has faithfully served Greene and Christian counties, providing shelter, meals, and compassionate care to those in need. The new Harbor House facility will allow the organization to greatly expand its shelter space and programs, ensuring that more individuals and families experiencing homelessness have access to safety, stability, and the tools to rebuild their lives.
“This groundbreaking represents more than a building. It’s a commitment to the future,” said Major Amos Shiels, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army of Springfield. “With this new facility, we will be able to provide expanded emergency shelter, transitional housing, and life-changing support services for decades to come.”
The new Harbor House will serve as a cornerstone of The Salvation Army’s mission to meet human needs without discrimination. Expanded space will allow for greater capacity, enhanced programming, and more individualized pathways to recovery and self-sufficiency.
Community members, partners, and supporters are encouraged to attend the ceremony and celebrate this milestone in The Salvation Army’s ongoing legacy of service and compassion.
