Lives Transformed
A CENTURY OF SERVICE. A FUTURE OF HOPE.
Every day, lives are transformed at The Salvation Army Springfield through a meal share, a prayer offered, and a helping hand extended in love. Now, though the Lives Transformed campaign, we are taking bold steps to meet the growing needs of our community and strengthen the programs that change lives every day.
Our Goal
$20 million to expand essential facilities, enhance programs, and ensure long-term stability through strategic reserves. This is more than a building project. It is a community effort to make sure hope never runs out in Springfield.
Building Spaces that Build Lives

Harbor House Relocation and Expansion - $7 million
For more than 85 years, Harbor House has been a lifeline for individual overcoming homelessness. The new facility will offer emergency shelter, transitional housing, respite beds for medical recovery, and onsite meal service, all in a setting designed to restore dignity and stability.
Food Pantry and Warehouse - $4 million
Food insecurity affects more families than ever before. A new Good Pantry and Warehouse will double our weekly capacity to reach up to 300 families and expand meal service from 210 to 300 weekday meals. This dedicated space will allow more efficient storage, restocking and distribution, and create new opportunities for connection and care.
Family Enrichment Center Expansion - $1 million
The Family Enrichment Center helps families move from crisis to stability through our Pathway of Hope Initiative. An expanded facility will include new rooms for counseling, education and spiritual care, empowering more families to achieve long-term independence.
Programs and Operating Support - $8 million
As we grow, so does our capacity to serve. Three years of program and operating funding will ensure new facilities are fully staffed, active and welcome from the first day their doors open.
Hope Has a Name
After a devastating accident left Charles with a traumatic brain injury, he lost nearly everything, including his sense of purpose. At Harbor House, he found more than shelter – he found redemption. With the support of The Salvation Army team, Charles rebuilt his life, regained employment and discovered hope again.
Today, he is thriving, a living testament to what your partnership makes possible. For Charles, Harbor House isn’t just a shelter – it’s a sanctuary.
Campaign Progress
Progress to Date: Momentum in Motion
As of Summer 2025, more than $8 million has been secured toward our $20 million goal. This includes a $2 million Mabee Foundation challenge grant, which will be unlocked when we raise an additional $2.38 million by July 8, 2026.
Every gift, large or small, moves us closer to opening the doors of new facilities and opening doors of opportunity for our neighbors.
