Westlake Ace Hardware and The Salvation Army of Columbia Distribute Fans to Families in Need as Temperatures Rise
The Salvation Army of Columbia and Westlake Ace Hardware partnered in May and June for the Annual Fan Drive, collecting donated fans and funds to help individuals and families in Columbia stay cool during the hot summer months. Westlake Ace and their customers have donated 192 box fans as part of this year’s Drive.
Fans will be distributed to community members in need on a first come, first serve basis. Recipients must bring a photo ID with their current address and complete a one-page information sheet. Water and popsicles will also be provided.
Nationwide, the Fan Drive now spans 210 Ace stores. Since inception, it has raised over $1 million and distributed more than 70,000 fans.
In addition to providing fans, The Salvation Army's Columbia Corps serves as a cooling shelter in extreme temperatures, offering respite, bottled water and compassionate care.
When: Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
While the in-store fan drive has ended, the community can continue to make donations online at salarmy.us/FanDrive.
