Show Me State Games Road Race - 4th Annual SPC Jason D. Fingar Memorial
About the event
In partnership with The Salvation Army, this year’s Show Me State Games Road Race honors SPC Jason D. Fingar, KIA, and all those men and women who have fought and died to preserve our freedom.
Jason was killed in action during his first deployment in Afghanistan with Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.
Jason had been awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Driver and Mechanic Badge during his military career.
Jason was actively involved with The Salvation Army from birth and was an avid musician, playing guitar, piano and brass instruments as part of The Salvation Army church band. He was a soldier at the Columbia Corps Community Center and believed that you could be a man of God and still fight for your country – and he did so proudly.
He loved to read the Bible and loved the armored Stryker vehicle he rode in while on patrol in Afghanistan. His parents, David and Rhonda Fingar, and The Salvation Army honor his memory at the annual 5K race.
