Resources Available at the Day Center

The Salvation Army at 115 First Avenue NE in Rochester, MN, offers a drop-in day center for unsheltered and low-income adults. The Day Center is open Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm.

In this space we, have computers for clients to use to access County resources, and to speak with legal representation. This building is also where our daily meal is served from 11:30am-12:30pm, where our bread shelf can be accessed, where community members can visit our food shelf on Tuesdays and Fridays, and where community members can access other Salvation Army basic needs services like rent and utility assistance. 

Other resources accessible at the day center include showers and hygiene supplies (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, shaving razors, and lotion), our resource room for clothing, shoes, outerwear, blankets, new socks, new underwear, and feminine hygiene supplies. 

Items we accept for Donation

We accept and greatly appreciate donations of the following items: 

• Unopened travel-size hygiene supplies like shampoo and conditioner, lotion, leave-in conditioner
• Sticks of deodorant
• Single blade razors for men and women
• Feminie hygiene supplies (tampons are one of our most requested items in the Day Center)
• New socks and underwear
• Machine washable, adult sized blankets (we do not accept baby blankets or bed comforters)
• Comfortable walking shoes (sneakers or tennis shoes for men and women are the perfect all-weather appropriate shoe, but we do also accept winter boots for men and women in the colder months of the year)
• Winter outerwear, specifically puffer coats, insulated winter gloves, and insulated winter hats
• Comfortable, weather appropriate clothing (we often encourage community members to donate dress clothing to the workforce center on the RCTC campus)
