Live Well at Home Grant
Booth Manor extends its sincere appreciation to the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) for the Live Well at Home (LWAH) grant, which has made it possible to complete critical improvements that enhance safety, accessibility, comfort, and efficiency throughout our community. This investment reflects DHS’s commitment to supporting older adults as they age safely and independently in their homes.
The Booth Manor Live Well at Home (LWAH) projects focus on improving resident safety, accessibility, comfort, and building efficiency. Current initiatives include the Shower Retrofit Project, Intercom System Upgrade, Fencing Project, Landscaping Project, LED Lighting Upgrade, Interior Painting Project, and Carpeting Project. Together, these efforts demonstrate Booth Manor’s dedication to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and modern living environment for residents.
A central component of this work is the retrofit of 32 residential showers, replacing outdated bathtubs with safer, more accessible shower systems. These upgrades significantly reduce fall risk and support residents with mobility needs, promoting independence and dignity. Additional improvements include intercom system upgrades to enhance building security and communication, fencing and landscaping projects that improve outdoor safety and accessibility, and interior enhancements such as LED lighting, new carpeting, and interior painting to improve visibility, comfort, and energy efficiency.
We recognize that renovation work can be disruptive, and we are grateful to our residents for their patience and cooperation. We also appreciate the cooperation.
Most importantly, we thank the Minnesota Department of Human Services for its investment in Booth Manor and the older adults we serve. The Live Well at Home grant has strengthened our ability to provide safe, dignified, and supportive housing where residents can continue to age in place with confidence.
