Hunger Services at Sault Ste. Marie MI Corps
The Salvation Army is dedicated to alleviating hunger in our community. Our local office operates community food pantries to provide nutritious food to individuals and families in need. We understand the challenges that food insecurity can pose in this area, and we're committed to providing a helping hand.
Our food pantries offer a variety of food items, including canned goods and nonperishable staples. Some even offer fresh produce. We work closely with local partners to ensure that we can provide a diverse selection of food to meet the unique needs of our community.
By providing access to nutritious food, we aim to improve the health and well-being of the neighbors we serve. We believe that everyone deserves to have access to the nourishment they need to thrive.

How we help cure hunger
Lunch at the Sal
A free community lunch. Lunch is served Monday through Friday, from 12 Noon to 12:30 pm.
Lunch at the Sal is more than just a free meal; it also provides guests with an opportunity for fellowship and networking with others in the community. At the present time, meals are served dine-in only.
Food Pantry Assistance
Pantry food assistance is intended to provide food for families to take home and prepare in their own kitchens. Currently, appointments are necessary to sign up for Food Pantry Assistance. Call 906-632-6521 to make your appointment.
Food Pantry Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:30 am to 12 pm and 12:30 pm to 3 pm
Please bring with you: Identification of applicant (for example: driver's license, passport, green card, government-issued ID, etc.)
Food Pantry Assistance is available for those living in Chippewa, Mackinac, and Luce Counties.
Bread Rack
Bread rack is a portable shelf that has a variety of perishable food items from local grocery stores. All guests are welcomed into the building through the door at the back of the Corps. Currently, masks are required to enter the building.
All you need to do is come to The Salvation Army. Distribution begins at 10:00 am and ends at 10:30 am.
