We understand the challenges and opportunities facing young people in our community today. Our dedicated local staff and volunteers are committed to creating a safe and positive environment where young people can learn, grow, and develop important life skills. Through mentoring, tutoring, summer camp, music programs, and recreational activities, we strive to help young people in our area reach their full potential.
How we help empower youth
We take a holistic approach by providing programs with life-long impact, such as character-building programs, summer camp opportunities, sports activities, education, after-school tutoring, mentorship, and more. At the core of all that we do for youth, fighting for them is synonymous with sharing God's love and grace.

Character Building
While varying from community to community, The Salvation Army's fun, safe and educational programs include Sunbeams for girls, Girl Guards for young women, and adventure corps for boys. Rooted in the scouting tradition, The Salvation Army's character-building programs are Bible-based with caring, trained leaders.
Sunbeams is a fun-filled program that helps girls age 6-11 develop socially, mentally, and spiritually. From learning to help at home to assisting others in the community and respecting nature, Sunbeams opens girls' eyes to how they can make a difference in the world around them.
Moonbeams for girls and boys ages 4 and 5. The Salvation Army offers the Moonbeams program. The children learn to make their world brighter by being a light everywhere they go. They earn emblems, learn about interesting things like insects, cooking, animals, and how to be helpful and polite. It's a great opportunity for young girls and boys to make new friends and learn about a very special friend, Jesus.
Girl Guards is for girls in middle and high school. The program has a four-fold emphasis addressing their spiritual, physical, mental, and social needs. Skill-development, personal growth, and community service opportunities expand as girls learn to work together and independently in various environments. They are also encouraged to think seriously about career and lifestyle choices as they move into adulthood, based on what they've learned as a Girl Guard.
The Adventure Corps program is offered for boys aged 6-14. Adventure Corps participants are encouraged to get out, explore the world around them, and discover ways of serving God and others. By participating in a variety of activities, including hiking, fishing, investigating museums, visiting nursing homes, memorizing Bible verses, and camping, young men learn to overcome physical, menta,l and social challenges to grow into responsible adults.
Singing Company
Singing Company is a youth chorus for children in 1st - 12th grades. The Singing Company will participate in our annual Christmas and Easter musicals that take place during our Sunday Worship service.
Youth Christian Education Classes
The Salvation Army also offers discipleship programs for children and youth who are or who wish to be members of The Salvation Army church.
Children 7-13 years old can be a part of Junior Soldiers, which is designed to help them understand what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and provide opportunities for them to learn Biblical truths and how to apply them to their lives, and Salvation Army principles and practices in a fun and interactive atmosphere.
For preteens and teens, The Salvation Army's CROSSTraining for Corps Cadets is the next step in discipleship. Its goal is to prepare young people for a lifelong commitment to spiritual growth based on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to provide opportunities to learn about their role in the church and how to serve God and humanity.
Tae Kwon Do
Our Taekwondo classes are open to children ages 8 and up. Children ages 4 - 7 are allowed if an older sibling or adult takes the classes with them. For more information, click here.
