STUFF THE BUS 2026
Equipping local children with essential school supplies to set them up for academic success.
Purpose
To collect school supplies for children from low-income families who would otherwise go without the tools they need for success.
In person: Friday and Saturday, August 7-8. Online: any time before August 8th
In-Person Shopping and Drop-off
Petoskey Walmart. Volunteers will be handing out flyers with supply needs. Collection bins will be located on both sides. You do not have to purchase supplies at Walmart. You can purchase them and drop them off at either Walmart or The Salvation Army Community Center Building: 2350 Mitchell Park Dr., Monday-Friday, August 3-7 from 9AM-4PM (except closed 12PM-1PM for lunch) or on Monday, August 10th.
Online Shopping
For those who prefer to shop online, visit SAPetoskey.org to access the shopping list and link to the Stuff the Bus registry through Walmart to have items shipped directly to The Salvation Army of Petoskey.
Distribution
Donations from Stuff the Bus are distributed during The Salvation Army Backpack Giveaway and to schools across Emmet, Charlevoix, and Antrim Counties. This year’s Backpack Giveaway will be held on Saturday, August 15th (Time: TBA) at The Salvation Army Community Center. Remaining supplies are delivered directly to schools, ensuring timely and confidential support for students throughout the academic year.
