HELP “MARCH OUT HUNGER” – RESTOCK THE SALVATION ARMY PANTRY
The Salvation Army of Petoskey is calling on the community to join its two‑week “March Out Hunger” campaign, an effort to replenish its food pantry and continue feeding neighbors experiencing food insecurity. The campaign runs Friday, March 16 through Friday, March 27, with donations accepted at the Petoskey Corps Community Center during regular business hours: weekdays from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM and 1:00 PM–4:00 PM.
The Food Pantry is a vital part of the Salvation Army’s local Food Program, which also provides warm prepared Community Meals bi-weekly and delivers meals weekly to those who cannot leave home. The pantry offers supplemental groceries to individuals, seniors, and families who are working hard to make ends meet. Each household receives a large box of shelf‑stable items, cereal, and bread, as well as frozen meats, dairy, and fresh produce when available. The pantry is open twice per month per household, regardless of whether clients have needed to visit a different pantry beforehand.
“Many area food pantries can provide only a few days’ worth of groceries” says Envoy Roman Hank “often not enough to last until a family’s next paycheck. We help fill this gap by offering more robust support to help ensure no one in the community goes without enough food”.
