We Fight Poverty With Love

Kalamazoo, MI Corps Overcome Poverty Information

How we help overcome poverty

The Salvation Army Kalamazoo Social Services Department is dedicated to serving the local community with a variety of programs. Seeking to spread the love of Christ throughout the community, our caseworkers strive to have their hearts to God and their hands to man.

Emergency Utility Assistance

The Salvation Army provides emergency utility assistance for electric, propane, natural gas, fuel oil, and water shut-offs and past due bills.  For more information about The Salvation Army's Social Services or to schedule an appointment with a caseworker, please contact our office at 269-344-6119.

Pathway of Hope

The Salvation Army's Pathway of Hope initiative provides individualized services to families with children who desire to take action to break the cycle of crisis and vulnerability that repeats generation after generation. It seeks to address the root causes of poverty in addition to The Army's history of compassionate serving. By helping families overcome challenges like unemployment, unstable housing, and lack of education, we can lead families down a path toward increased stability and, ultimately, self-sufficiency.  Learn more >

Share the Warmth Coat Drive

Michigan winters can be harsh, making warm coats a critical need for our neighbors.  The Salvation Army of Kalamazoo has always been dedicated to caring for the basic needs of our community.  Working together with WWMT News Channel 3, Paris Cleaners, and many community collection sites, The Salvation Army provides thousands of coats to children and adults each year.

Any business, church, organization, or individual may participate by collecting or purchasing coats.  New or gently used coats are accepted and distributed to those in need.  You don't have to be an official collection site to get involved!
