Adult & family Programs at Livingston County Corps

The Salvation Army offers a variety of programs and services designed to meet the diverse needs of adults in our community. We strive to create a supportive environment where our neighbors can connect with others in the area, grow spiritually, and achieve their full potential.

Our programs provide opportunities for personal and spiritual growth, community engagement, and skill development. By offering a range of activities and resources, we aim to empower individuals to live fuller lives.

The Salvation Army of Livingston County provides many Assistance Programs to help families and individuals with emergency needs. All of our programs are for Livingston County only residence and by appointment only.  

Utility Assistance

DTE, Consumers, Propane, Fuel Oil

The Salvation Army of Livingston County is dedicated to helping people keep the lights and heat on year round. We understand that housing and utility costs go hand in hand and we are here to help find solutions to make those expenses more affordable for families. Our programs include emergency utility assistance , enrollment into cost effective programs with Consumers and DTE that reduce monthly bills and include energy tips that will save families money in the long run.

Housing and Shelter Assistance

At The Salvation Army of Livingston County, we believe that stable housing is of utmost importance to the long-term success of families. We have developed a variety of housing assistance programs aimed at helping to provide or maintain stable housing. Those programs include assistance with first month rent, security deposit, eviction, and temporary shelter

Shelter Assistance

Those seeking shelter will need to contact The Salvation Army  at 517-546-4750 and complete an intake with the shelter caseworker .

Please be advised you must be a Livingston County resident at the time you become homeless and have not gotten a voucher from us within the last 365 days in order to be eligible for a voucher.

Vouchers

Emergency clothing vouchers are written for individuals or families who are in need of clothing due to the loss in a fire or an unexpected  emergency in the household. Clothing vouchers may also include items such as shoes, ties, undergarments, and belts.

Emergency household vouchers are written for individuals or families who recently obtained new residency within 30 days of signing their lease or for households who may have lost items due to the loss in a fire. Household vouchers may include items such at dishes, bedding, linen and small appliances.

All vouchers are by appointment at the Howell social services office and will be redeemed at The Salvation Army Thrift Store located in Brighton.
