How we help disaster survivors
The Salvation Army Alpena Corps has a very active team for emergency disaster work. We respond regularly to house fires and other situations where our local Police or Fire Department need on-site respite care. Being able to provide warmth with a cup of coffee to a displaced family, a cooling water or replenishing Gatorade to a fireman, or a nice warm meal when the temperature is well below zero is a privilege we take very seriously. Our goal is for our Disaster Services Canteen to be present with whatever is needed in the midst of a crisis in our community. We are always looking for volunteers to join our team to serve.
