Brightening the holidays for our community

The Salvation Army Corps Community Center-Henry County Holiday Giving Information

How we help brighten the holidays

Imagine how it would feel not knowing how you are going to provide presents for your children or how you are even going to find the money for your Christmas dinner. Imagine what it would feel like to be elderly and have worked your whole life and now you can't even afford a Christmas dinner. You feel all alone broken and defeated. Along with our donors we help ease the pain of poverty and loneliness. Most importantly we show them the love of Jesus Christ.

  • Christmas assistance for families with children in our toy shop We start taking Christmas applications November 5 - November 29 Mon.-Thurs.  9am - 3pm.( we will be closed Nov. 22) . To sign up you will need social security cards for everyone in the household, your ID, proof of your income and monthly expenses (rent, electric, gas, water, phone) You will also need your children's clothes and shoe sizes .On December 20 you will come to our toy shop and choose what you would like to give your child for Christmas. You will also receive a food for your Christmas dinner. We partner with toys for tots to provide toys for our toy shop. We also have a very giving community that donates clothes, PJs, socks, underwear, warm coats, gloves, hats, scarves and shoes. Many of our children have no socks and underwear. When you have no money you dress from the outside in. We want our children to have warm clothes for the cold Indiana weather.
  • Angel tree when you sign your children up for Christmas we place the information on an angel and we put the angel on one of our many angel trees. Someone takes that angel off the tree and purchases gifts for your child and drops them off at the service desk or in the box. You will also receive a Christmas food box for your family.
  • Food Boxes If you need help providing a Christmas dinner please come in and sign up. All you will need is your ID , social security card and proof of your income and expenses( electric, gas, phone) On December 19 you will come and receive  a box of food and a gift card to Wal-Mart. We also have a special gift just for you.
