Holiday Giving

Brightening the holidays for our community

The Salvation Army of Gary-Merrillville Corps Community Center Holiday Giving Information

The Salvation Army brightens the holiday season for those in need through:

Red Kettles
The iconic Salvation Army red kettles signal the start of the holiday season. Donations collected in these buckets support the services in your neighborhood. Bell ringers are both seasonal employees and volunteers. Register to Ring now. Secure contactless giving is available with Kettle Pay, but the pandemic means there are fewer red kettles and fewer shoppers out and about. Thankfully you can donate any time you see the tap to pay logos! Plus, from September 16 - January 31st, help brighten the holidays by fundraising or donating through our Virtual Red Kettle.

Angel Tree
When you're struggling financially to care for your family, holiday gifts are often not feasible. The Salvation Army Angel Tree program allows donors to purchase gifts and clothes for families in need, making their holidays brighter. You can shop online from the comfort and safety of your home or opt to shop in-person. In fact, from October 15 - December 11, you may shop our online Walmart Registry for Good Angel Tree. Please consider being an angel for a child, senior, or family in need this Christmas. Groups, businesses and families are welcome!

Coat & Winter Warmth Drives
We collect new or gently used coats and winter gear for families in need. If your group is interested in hosting a coat or winter warmth drive, please contact indangelTree@usc.salvationarmy.org.

Holiday Meals
The Salvation Army provides Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for families unable to create a special meal themselves. We will have to-go meals this year to provide holiday spirit in a safe manner.
