The Salvation Army of Evansville, Indiana

The Salvation Army of Evansville Indiana is working hard to solve the food insecurities that many families face through our soup kitchen and food pantry.

Donations

Every Year The Salvation Army of Evansville Partners with local Schnucks grocery stores to help fight the War on Hunger. The goal of this partnership is to help bring awareness to The Salvation Army feeding programs that operate year-round, and not just around the holidays. In addition, we aim to collect in kind and monetary donations to help support our programs.

In 2021 during our War on hunger Campaign, we raised almost $60,000 in donations from companies, and around $11,000 of that was brought in directly from Schnucks customers on the day of the event. In addition to the THOUSANDS of canned goods collected on the day of the event. Lastly, with the help of the many donations we receive every week from grocery stores, restaurants, and Tri-State Food Bank.

Volunteers

While food supplies and money to fund the programs are important, a huge part of any successful feeding program is the logistics. It's the manpower, equipment, and other resources that allow us to be open when people need the food and be able to serve a large number of people in a short amount of time. Volunteers is the great need we are always facing. As old volunteers retire, we need new volunteers to step up and dedicate some time throughout the month in order to care for our clients and those in need.

All of this was accomplished with 22 volunteers, working just over 50 hours on a Friday, with the preparation and support of around 2-3 employees and the hours they put in.... Just think of what we could do with even MORE help!
