Brightening the holidays for our community

The Salvation Army Corps Community Center-Evansville Holiday Giving Information

How We Help Brighten The Holidays

The holiday season brings with it warm and fuzzy memories and feelings, but for many, it brings up painful memories or even disappointing realities of their current struggles. Financial stresses are often the catalyst to huge anxieties with many mental health issues surface during this season. We want to offer what we can to families, and especially children, during this hard time in their lives. Our goal is to offer hope at a time of difficult decisions, so families know they have somewhere they can turn to.

Coat a Kid

As the temperatures start to cool, we take for granted having a good quality coat to keep us warm. Kids are constantly growing as well so having a coat that fits properly is very important to ensuring they stay warm during the winter months. We hope to help with this need by allowing area families the opportunity to shop for coats for their whole family with an emphasis on kids.

Toy Town

The Salvation Army in partnership with Toys for tots works to provide Christmas presents for children 0- 16 years of age. So the joy of Christmas can still be experienced without the parents having to worry about anything more than what they already have on their plate. It is The Salvation Army's hope that all children feel loved and cared for at Christmas, and we are excited to be working closely with Toys for Tots and other community partners towards  the same goal. This is a special time for Children and they may not understand why there may be no presents at Christmas.  The Salvation Army's desire is that all know of a special gift that was given by God to this world in Jesus.  And He is the reason for the season. We hope that by the selfless giving of gifts and other items we have an avenue to share the love of Jesus and the Gospel.
