Homelessness is not only a national issue, but a local concern for Jacksonville. The wide range of unhoused population estimates in and of itself is cause for concern. Without valid quantifiable data, our community is challenged to be able to effectively provide sufficient services or address public safety concerns.
The Salvation Army's Street Outreach Initiative aims to not only address the issue of viable data, but to also understand and help address the human side of this concern. Understanding who our unhoused neighbors are, learning their stories, and hearing their needs first hand, will better help us navigate solutions that actually help.
Outcome Objectives
- Connect unhoused individuals with existing services
- Provide ongoing case management
- Establish a case management database to track and house pertinent data
- Expand inclement weather shelter to day center
