The Salvation Army of Nampa’s Kids First Family Shelter provides a safe and warm environment for families experiencing homelessness. Families can stay for up to 120 days while working with Case Management to overcome barriers to permanent housing and achieve long-term success.

Every family deserves a place to feel safe, warm, and supported during difficult times. The Kids First Family Shelter is more than just a shelter—it’s a haven where parents and children can begin to rebuild their lives. Alongside the Kids First Family Shelter, The Salvation Army offers the Home at Last Rapid Rehousing Program, which quickly transitions families from emergency shelter into local houses or apartments.

The rapid rehousing program provides weekly case management for every family. During case management, weekly goals are set by identifying and utilizing client's strengths to overcome homelessness such as saving money, finding employment, and finding housing. Case management is also used to keep families and women accountable in the program.

This program is designed to help families overcome significant barriers to permanent housing, including debt, lack of education, unemployment, and mental or physical health challenges. Families receive supportive services, community resource referrals, and assistance with move-in costs and rental support for 6–12 months as they work toward stability. Together, these programs provide families with the tools, resources, and care they need to overcome challenges and build a brighter, more stable future.

Applications are currently available. The Kids First Family Shelter currently has immediate openings. Families with at least one minor child are encouraged to apply. Please reach out to Victoria here for the application or via email at victoria.palaziol@usw.salvationarmy.org. Translation services are also able to be accommodated.

The Day Resource Center serves the entire community as a safe, temperature-controlled, place. While other shelters in the community close during the day, our Day Resource Center remains open. It serves as a center for all to gather, a respite for those weary from the burdens of homelessness, for encouragement and inspiration.

The Day Resource Center provides breakfast, lunch and access to showers and laundry facilities for homeless and at-risk of homeless families and individuals. Case management is also available to assist people in moving toward housing and self sustainability. This program is open to the public daily.
