The Programs that create real change for those in need across Lee county
1. Financial Assistance
Population Served: Individuals and families in the Lee County area
Program Strengths: The Salvation Army is able to help on a limited basis with utility assistance, rental assistance, and transportation assistance (to out of town medical appointments) — or with certain types of prescription
medication (once a year).
2. Food and Soap Pantry
Population Served: Individuals and families in the Lee County area
Program Strengths: The Salvation Army’s food pantry is able to supply a 5-7 day supply of food and 3 personal hygiene items per family once a month.
3. Pathway of Hope
Population Served: Families in the Lee County area
Program Strengths: The Pathway of Hope Case Manager provides weekly case
management support for families who want to establish specific, measurable and achievable goals to move toward long term stability.
4. Senior Services
Population Served: Seniors in the Keokuk/Fort Madison area
Program Strengths: During Easter and
Christmas, volunteers from The Salvation Army visit the nursing homes in the area to spread good cheer and to give a small gift to those seldom visited. April through
December, The Salvation Army holds a
monthly meal and fellowship for the seniors, days and times below:
Keokuk: 11:30 a.m. second Tuesday of the month
Ft. Madison: 11:30 a.m. second Thursday of the month
January through November, The Salvation Army Fort Madison location holds a monthly lunch “Gathering” — which is a meet and greet/time for fellowship — that many seniors as well as any age group can attend. This is at 11:30 a.m. the third Thursday of every month.
March through November, The Salvation Army Keokuk location has a “Bingo Brunch” with food, fellowship, and prizes the third Tuesday of each month.
