Who We Are

The Salvation Army meets human needs without discrimination

Who We Are

No matter what the circumstance or challenge, we are here for you.

More than 11 percent of central Iowans are living below the federal poverty line, meaning they can’t afford food, housing, medical care and other basic needs. Many families above the federal poverty line are one flat tire or one emergency room visit away from crisis.

The Salvation Army of Des Moines partners with individuals and families to help meet their physical, emotional and spiritual needs and get them back on their feet. And because poverty doesn't have to be permanent, we help create a pathway out of challenging, persistent circumstances.
