Burlington, Iowa Corps Community Center Assistance Programs Information

The programs that create real change for those in need across Des Moines County 

 

  • Pathway of Hope - The Salvation Army has seen tremendous success bringing families out of generational poverty through our Pathway of Hope program. Alongside a dedicated case manager, families enrolled will plan and set goals, get connected to both internal and external resources, and ultimately learn how to support themselves out of poverty and into a new chapter of hope. 
  • Rent, Water, Utilities Assistance 
    • They can pick from the three resources. They can only get help once every 14 months. The cap for funding for assistance is $150 per person or family for the last $150 of the bill. There must be a receipt showing the bill has been paid down to $150. First come, first served.
    • Please bring the bill such as disconnect or eviction notice.
    • When it comes to rent, you must have W9 from landlord.
    • Bring proof of income such as earned income, SSI/SSDI/award letter, DHS printout, unemployment letter.
    • Proof of ID along with address verification.
  • Clothing Vouchers
    • Offered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Christmas Assistance
    • We provide Christmas gifts just before the holidays to local families in need - ensuring that families have presents under the tree.
