How We Help Overcome Poverty

 

Representative Payee Program

  • Representative Payee Program population served:  Managing a budget with a limited, fixed income can be a challenge. In these times of need, we offer the Representative Payee Program, confidential and compassionate budgeting assistance for those on a fixed income who receive Social Security due to mental illness.
  • Representative Payee Program strengths:  We help clients budget their income to ensure their housing, food, medical and material needs are met. We also communicate frequently with the Social Security Administration, guide clients through the completion and submission of required paperwork, and serve as a referral service, helping with food assistance and housing applications, conferring with case managers and/or medical staff, and supporting clients through crises that arise. 

 

Pathway of Hope

  • Pathway of Hope population served:  The goal of Pathway of Hope is to guide families with children 18 years and younger through crisis and instability to a place of security in order to ultimately break the intergenerational cycle of poverty. 
  • Pathway of Hope strengths-based casework services: 
    • financial counseling and planning
    • goal setting with manageable action steps
    • job training, referrals and employment assistance
    • assistance with securing housing and childcare
    • emotional and spiritual support 
  • Pathway of Hope program strengths:  Pathway of Hope works with people where they are, offering practical guidance to help families overcome obstacles and achieve their big-picture goals, one step at a time.

 

Utilities and Prescriptions Assistance

  • Utilities and Prescriptions Assistance population served:  No one should ever have to choose between paying the electric bill or refilling a prescription, which is why we help low- to no-income individuals and families pay utility bills and afford prescription medications. 

 

Christmas Assistance

  • Christmas Assistance program strengths:  The holidays can put an even greater strain on an already-tight budget. We provide toys and groceries at no cost to families in need, ensuring there is food on the table and gifts under the tree at Christmas.

And it doesn't always look like what we expect.

Chances are, though you might not be aware of it, you know someone who is struggling to make ends meet.

We come alongside individuals and families who are suffering from the effects of poverty, offering compassion and support as well as short- and long-term assistance to alleviate both the obvious and the subtle impact of poverty.
