The Salvation Army is dedicated to alleviating hunger in our community. Our local office operates community food pantries to provide nutritious food to individuals and families in need. We understand the challenges that food insecurity can pose in this area, and we're committed to providing a helping hand.

Our food pantries offer a variety of food items, including canned goods and nonperishable staples. Some even offer fresh produce. We work closely with local partners to ensure that we can provide a diverse selection of food to meet the unique needs of our community.

By providing access to nutritious food, we aim to improve the health and well-being of the neighbors we serve. We believe that everyone deserves to have access to the nourishment they need to thrive.

How You Can Help

The Salvation Army Fresh Choice Food Program is here to help your family with fresh food. "Fresh Friday"" is a free outdoor food market designed to allow families to safely shop for food necessities.  You choose what goes in your basket. Available food items may include fresh produce, fresh meat, dairy products and non-perishables.

The Medically Tailored Groceries (MTG) program is designed to meet the specific nutritional needs of individuals living with chronic conditions or illnesses in Yuba, Sutter, and surrounding counties. 

Our mission is to improve health outcomes through nutrition by offering personalized grocery support. A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) will conduct individual assessments and develop tailored treatment plans to address each participant’s dietary needs. 

To qualify for the MTG program, individuals must meet the following criteria: 
Have active insurance coverage through Partnership HealthPlan. 
Have a diagnosed chronic condition, such as: 
Diabetes 
Heart failure 
HIV 
Cancer 
Certain mental health conditions 
Eligibility will be determined during the intake process and is subject to verification.

The Hope Express Meal Service exists to compassionately serve nutritious meals to individuals experiencing homelessness in Yuba and Sutter counties. Our mission is to promote health, restore dignity, and empower individuals toward a more stable and hopeful future. 

To participate in the Hope Express Meal Service, individuals must: 
Be registered with Coordinated Entry.
