Complete Your Community Service Hours
Thank you for your interest in completing community service with The Salvation Army. We offer service opportunities at two Anaheim locations, each providing meaningful ways to give back to the community while meeting your required hours.
Before you can begin volunteering, you must complete all onboarding requirements, including a volunteer application and background check. No community service hours can be completed until you have been fully approved.
Before You Begin
- Choose one of the locations below.
- Complete the online registration form.
- Follow the instructions sent to your email.
- Complete all volunteer requirements, including a background check.
- Wait for approval and scheduling instructions before reporting for service.
Anaheim Red Shield Community Center
Available Monday through Friday
Community service participants at the Anaheim Red Shield Community Center support our Client Choice Food Pantry, helping provide food and assistance to local families in need.
Duties May Include:
- Greeting and assisting pantry clients
- Stocking and organizing shelves
- Preparing food for distribution
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace
- Lifting and moving items as needed
Important Information:
- Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.
- Be respectful and courteous to all clients and staff.
- A background check is required before beginning service hours.
Once approved, Ruth Melendez will assist with scheduling your volunteer hours.

Anaheim Emergency Shelter (Center of Hope)
Available Friday through Tuesday
Community service participants at the Anaheim Center of Hope Emergency Shelter help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Duties May Include:
- Cleaning and organizing common areas
- Picking up trash and maintaining outdoor spaces
- Moving furniture, donations, and supplies
- Assisting with basic maintenance projects
- Helping improve and set up shared spaces
Important Information:
- Wear appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes.
- Be respectful and courteous to shelter residents and staff.
- A background check is required before beginning service hours.
