The Sally program strategy differs from other afterschool homework assistance programs as this meets the educational needs of disadvantaged children, as well as their nutritional, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Since children in low-income families are more vulnerable to poor grades, grade repetition, absenteeism, anxiety, and social dysfunction at school, children attend age-specific classrooms to receive homework assistance from qualified staff and volunteers. Children who need extra support receive individual tutoring. Following homework, the children participate in the Troops program with enrichment activities that develop character, build confidence, self-awareness, and self-esteem.
