The Salvation Army's Sunday morning worship services are a blend of traditional Sunday morning worship and the Holiness meeting. They combine music, Scripture, prayer, and preaching to honor God and serve as a time of reverence and reflection on the Holiness of God. The services are led by Salvation Army Officers and Pastors, who are responsible for assessing needs, delivering programs, and directing ministries for the local community.
The services are open to all and invite public response, with common elements including a public reading of Scripture, time for prayer, musical presentations, congregational singing, and the collection of an offering to support corps ministries. A sermon or Bible teaching is typically led by an officer, or a qualified soldier/lay leader trained to share and explain the Word of God. The services also value all forms of musical, cultural, and artistic expression in worship and evangelism, with volunteer artists and musicians contributing to services through drama, multimedia presentations, adult choir, children's choir, piano, string instruments, drums, and brass bands.
