Salvation Army Continues Massive Relief Operation in Haiti

Alexandria, VA – The Salvation Army is in the midst of its largest international disaster response since the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2005, providing immediate relief to Haiti following a major earthquake that struck the island on January 12.  Teams of international disaster responders from The Salvation Army have joined more than 700 personnel permanently stationed in Haiti to deliver food, water, medicine and other aid supplies to people still suffering more than two weeks after the tragedy. Salvation Army Provides Food for 7,000 Haitians, Medical Care to Hundreds

Alexandria, VA – Nearly 7,000 people were given a five-day supply of food Monday by The Salvation Army in Port-au-Prince. Hundreds of others, including infants at an orphanage, received medical care from Salvation Army doctors who are responding to the earthquake. Read more
Salvation Army Establishes Supply Line to Haiti

Alexandria, VA – More than 700 Salvation Army workers permanently stationed in Haiti are being supported in their Earthquake disaster response efforts by US and International Salvation Army teams. Since the 7.0 Earthquake struck the island five days ago, The Salvation Army has set up a staging area in south Florida and arranged logistics on the ground in Port Au Prince. Read more
Salvation Army Assessment Team Arrives in Haiti

Alexandria, VA – An initial Salvation Army assessment team is on the ground in Haiti and en route to the capital city of Port Au Prince. Once there, the team will liaison with Salvation Army personnel already on site in Haiti, where the Army has had a presence since 1950. As with all such relief efforts, The Salvation Army’s initial focus will be to assess the immediate needs of the people affected by the earthquake, then utilize its resources to mobilize and ship food, water and other critical necessities to where they are most needed. Salvation Army Relief Team en Route to Haiti

Alexandria, VA – The Salvation Army is continuing to mobilize people and resources to assist with the international relief effort in Haiti following a severe earthquake Tuesday that damaged much of the country’s infrastructure. The first assessment team is currently awaiting passage in the Turks and Caicos Islands as air space into Haiti is currently limited to military transport. Read more
